At Renty, we provide affordable and fully-featured car leasing in Dubai with high-quality vehicles. Car leasing is one of the most cost-effective and flexible ways to obtain the perfect car for you. If you are seeking car leasing in Dubai, you have come to the right place. Read on to find out more about our leasing services.

What is car leasing?

Car leasing is a financial arrangement for long-term vehicle use. In most cases, the lease tenure will last from 1 to 3 years, depending on the type of agreement you select. It differs from standard car rental in that it is a long-term financial alternative to ownership. If you don’t wish to buy a car outright, leasing can be very cost-effective.

In Dubai, car leasing is popular for personal use and approved business purposes. If you do not wish to make the large financial commitment of buying a car, leasing is the obvious alternative. It gives you a modern car without the hassle of loans and usually comes with flexible payment options to help you spread the cost.

When do you need car leasing?

There are a number of circumstances when you might want to lease a car in Dubai. A leasing agreement only requires a simple monthly fee. This can make it more financially manageable than purchasing a new or used car outright.

Another reason why you might want to lease a car is if you want a more prestigious vehicle than you would otherwise be able to afford. Car leasing gives you access to better vehicles for a more affordable monthly fee. The savings can be quite significant, especially since there are fixed monthly payments.

But car leasing is also advantageous when you don’t want the financial commitment of loans, many of which often have high interest rates and hidden charges. Leasing gives you the peace of mind that your monthly payments will not increase and leave you out of pocket. It’s the easiest, most affordable way to gain a new motor.

Reasons to lease a car in the UAE

The cheap price of gas in the UAE and excellent road network means that car travel is the most efficient way to travel. Below we list key reasons to lease a car in Dubai.

Cost-effective vs outright purchase

Car leasing is usually more financially manageable than buying a car outright. If you want to obtain a high-quality car that is up-to-date, leasing is the logical choice, especially if you are on a limited budget or have no money for a down-payment. The monthly payment plans ensure you know exactly what and when you will pay. And you also pay separately for registration costs, maintenance, and car insurance.

Enjoy the latest car models

One of the main attractions of car leasing is cost-effective access to the latest car models. Purchasing a brand new or nearly new car is costly if you intend to buy outright. But with leasing, you can enjoy a better model than your budget would otherwise allow. The choice of cars on offer is also extensive, and you may even have the chance to buy the car, should you wish to do so after the tenure has ended.

Car Lease in Dubai

Leasing can actually help you to purchase a car in some circumstances. If you wish to take this route, you can lease a car for a period of time then choose to buy at a later stage. This sometimes works out cheaper than placing a down-payment or taking finance. Some providers offer this option as part of a lease-purchase agreement. We feature a number of these lease plans on our Renty platform.

No financing or loans to worry about

If you do not wish to worry about financing a new car with a private loan, car leasing is a popular alternative. Many loans have high interest rates and hidden fees that make them expensive over the long-term. Car financing can also be costly, especially if you take out a repayment plan for many years. In contrast, car leasing involves simple monthly payments and no costly surprises.

Document requirements for car leasing in Dubai

  • For UAE residents

    • UAE Driving License  — a valid UAE driving licence (at least 1 year of driving experience with this licence).
    • Emirates ID  — a mandatory document for residents.
    • Resident Visa  — a copy of the passport page with the residence visa.
    • Passport copy  — a copy of the first page of the international passport.

  • For tourists/non-residents

    • Passport  — a valid international passport used to enter the UAE.
    • Visit/tourist visa + proof of legal entry — explain that this can be a visa/stamp in the passport or an online check by passport details (for many countries, a physical stamp is not applied; the company checks the client’s details in the system to confirm legal entry and length of stay).
    • Home country driving licence  — the client’s national driving licence (for citizens of countries whose licences are recognised directly in the UAE: the USA, EU countries, the UK, etc.).
    • International Driving Permit (IDP)  — if the client’s licence is not on the list of those accepted directly in the UAE, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is additionally required and must be used together with the national licence.
    • Credit card — a personal (name-issued) credit card for the down payment and monthly leasing payments.

Please note that when someone receives an Emirates ID, they become a resident and are no longer allowed to drive with a foreign or tourist license. In such a case, a the company is obliged to take the car back until the individual obtains the UAE driving license.

There is a list of countries where licenses can be exchanged for the UAE DL. In this case, after the exchange, the individual can continue using their long term car. However, if the country of origin is not on the list, the person must proceed with local driving courses to obtain a UAE DL. Only after receiving the local license can the individual continue using the leased car.

Car leasing terms & what’s included

So what does long term car leasing include? Here is an easy breakdown:

  • The leasing agreement includes the chosen car in excellent condition and the terms of use.
  • It describes the fixed monthly payments.
  • Standard car leasing agreements do not cover vehicle maintenance. If it needs maintenance, the client must handle it.
  • The agreement also covers the lease term, typically 12 months for long term car leasing. The maximal leasing term is usually about 36 months.

The booking process is straightforward and simple. You need to choose the vehicle, review the lease terms, provide the necessary documents, and that's it.

What’s included in your monthly payment

Long term car leasing agreements offer flexible terms and an easy way to get around. There is usually no deposit, but an upfront down payment may be required. You can use a vehicle while paying monthly car leasing fees. These cover:

  • Fixed monthly rate for a set lease term
Under the lease terms, you pay a fixed amount each month for the duration of the long term car leasing agreement.
  • Included mileage allowance (monthly or annual limit)
With short term rentals—one month or less—there is usually a mileage limit for a vehicle. This is also the case with long term car leasing. The lease terms define the mileage limits; however, the exact car leasing terms depend on the vehicle and provider. It means that you must follow the mileage limits stated in the agreement, whether you are heading to Sheikh Zayed Road or another Emirate.
  • VAT and transparent billing
Monthly payments either cover 5% VAT tax already, or the taxable amount is clearly stated on top of the rate. It differs based on the specific vehicle or provider.
  • Optional: lease-to-own option
Some of the agreements may also offer lease-to-own opportunities. In this case, a part of monthly payments may go to the future buyout of the vehicle. It means that after the lease agreement, a customer will be the sole owner of their long term car.
For some offers, there is a Lease to Own option—briefly mention that part of the payments may be credited toward the future buyout of the car.

What’s not included / extra charges

Several charges are not included in long-term car leasing. These include Salik toll charges, traffic fines, fuel, parking and valet fees, annual insurance, registration, routine servicing, breakdown recovery, replacement cars, cleaning fees, early termination fees, contract changes, additional drivers, and optional upgrades.

  • Salik (toll charges)
  • Traffic rule violations
  • Fuel costs
  • Parking and valet fees
  • Comprehensive insurance coverage
  • Registration and annual renewal fees
  • 24/7 roadside assistance and breakdown recovery
  • Insurance excess and damage not covered by insurance
  • Replacement car during maintenance or repair
  • Routine servicing and scheduled maintenance
  • Early termination or contract changes
  • Additional drivers
  • Optional add-ons and upgrades
  • Cleaning fees and smoking policy

  • Breakdown: No replacement car is provided as a standard condition; the client still follows the payment schedule in the contract; roadside assistance and towing are not included; the customer is responsible for arranging and paying for these services.

Can I terminate or extend the lease term early?

Yes, but only under the contract terms. Early termination usually involves a penalty/early termination fee; extension is by mutual agreement via an addendum with updated terms/rate, and is not automatic.
